How Chocolate is made...

The making of chocolate

With the exception of one tree in the Botanical Garden in Brooklyn, New York and a few at Hershey’s Chocolate World, Hershey, Pennsylvania, the cocoa tree doesn’t grow well away from the equator. As a matter of fact, the cocoa tree grows best within 10 degrees of the equator in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and parts of Asia.
The taste and texture of chocolate depends on its fat content, its seasonings and even whether or not its been aged. Chocolate usually starts as a mixture of roasted cocoa beans.
